muzzle loader elk

What size ammo do you use? This is my first muzzle loader hunt in NV for elk. I plan on taking my cva .45 cal inline 300gr power belt and 100 gr powder. Any thoughts?

I hunt with a 50 caliber. I use 295 grain jacket sabot that is actually a 45 caliber. I use 90 grains of pyrodex powder. You will be fine with that load.

I shoot a 50 cal. 295 grain powerbelt with 100 grains of powder and it has never let me down. Just be careful because if you hit an elk high with a powerbelt they tend not to bleed very well. I switched to the aero tip powerbelts instead of the hollowpoints and it has made a noticeable difference in penetration. I have had 3 complete passthroughs on adult cow elk. Other than that it sounds like you are good to go.
