Need some help sighting in..

Postby edecho » Sat Apr 13, 2013 6:02 pm

Hey all,

Need some help trying to figure out how to sight my rifle in fro 200 yards. I'm going on a guided boar hunt next month, and the guide has asked to have my rifle sighted in at 200 yards. I have it currently zeroed in at 100 yards with a .270win, how should I zero it in at 200 yards? Should I have it zeroed in at about 1.5inches high at the 100 yard mark, or should I just compensate with the number of clicks pending on the range of the pig? Any feed back would be much appreciated. Thanks!

just put a target out 200 yrds away and zero it in there instead of zero'd in at 100

If i had a 200 yard range around here then I wouldn't be asking this question...

If it's on at 100 I wouldn't worry about it at 200. If you miss it's probably going to be due to shooter error and not the rifle.

According to Federal's website there's about 3" of drop between 100 and 200 yds. I would sight it 2" high at 100yds and call it good.

Hey bud I been shooting a .270 w/130 grain for 20 years. If that gun is dead on or an inch high @ 100... @ 200-250 hold center of body and you have a dead pig every time. Just make sure your windage is very close at 100 if you intend on shooting 200 or beyond. Good luck!

Nikon spot on app. Input caliber bullet brand type and weight. Input target distance(100) input zero(200). Hit fire and it spits out example.... Set sights 1.2 inches high for 200 yrd zero. Awesome!!!!
