Shrpshtr I kind of envy you guys that have turkey, hogs, mule deer and elk to hunt but I live here and have to enjoy the things that the good Lord gave us in this neck of the woods. I guess I should have taken more pics of game that I have shot but what I have pics of I will try and post once I find them and someone with a scanner as mine won't work on the new computer.

Both animals were taken with my 30.06 with a 165 grain bullet. How about your elk. What did you shoot him with? I really like that picture by the way. Some of my fondest hunting memories have taken place in the snow, and I think it makes for some neat pictures.

the snow makes for great pictures, but the next 6 hours of cleaning (we had 2 down from that herd) in the blowing snow was not great. I took that elk with a 180 grained Remington CoreLokt .30-06 at ~200yds. The .30-06 is such a versitile and potent caliber. It's hard to argue with.

I snapped this pic while deer hunting 2 years ago. Elk season was still two days away (i had the tag in my pocket), when this ol' boy came over the top of the hill with a some of cows.

the pic is poor quality and that was about as close as i could zoom the camera in...he sure looked big at 5X though my scope though. he he he.

i guess the fact that this is the only pic i have of him tells ya about my success on that upcoming Elk season. lol.

I killed the top one on the first Monday of rifle season and then the other one the following afternoon. I filled my limit quickly. The 1st was an 8ptr that weighed 175lbs, the 2nd was a 9ptr at 185lbs. I'm getting the 9 mounted as we speak. I'm about to leave to go scouting in a few minutes, so hopefully I will have some bigger deer to put on here in a few months.
