I have tried rattling, but to no avail. The only deer call that has ever worked for me was a bleat call. It worked once, but that is it. I killed a decent 9ptr that came in to it.

We have seen your results and again good job. On the rattling you will usually do better early in the season as the bucks are setting their pecking order. And it works fair to middlin late in the season.

I use a rattle bag every season. Early season to first part of November has worked best for me. I've killed 4 or 5 deer in the past few years that came to the rattle bag. Not to mention the MANY younger bucks that have come RUNNING to the sound. They always come in quick and usually with their head down grunting. Neat to watch.
:salude:
Hey, did you grab the blind bag with the shells when we left the truck?

For Moose,

during the rut, we will call 'em and beat the hell out of the bushes, even take the hatchet to some old dead pine trees and cut off its brances.

I think it works well

I use a rattle box. Have the same results as HuntMQ1. I have had a few deer come running in. Nothing Like It!

i use a bag and/or horns. i prefer horns but they can get bulky while bow hunting tight areas. i have had some good luck with them. mainly during pre-rut but i have had a couple nice bucks come to light rattling before the 2nd rut kicks in.

Rattling did it for me this last fall. The third weekend in october i started to rattle with sheds i found, and it wasnt 20 minutes and i had a big buck come right in on my decoy. he looked like he was about to attack it but i got off a clean shot before. It was a huge 14 pt. scored 202 and 7/8. i had it up at the Iowa Deer Classic it really turned heads.
Rattling did the trick for me. I suggest that you use a decoy when rattling early in the season. It gets the other bucks all rieled up. Good luck to all you guys

Was that a bow kill or a gun kill?

I love rattlin. sometimes I go out around thanks giving and rattle just to see how close I can get them in. I will try to get a pic up of my rattlin horns. I cut off the tips and file them down so they are not too sharp, then I tied a cord around both of them so I can just throw them over my back, tie them to my pack etc.

Its a lot of fun to be down on your knees scraping the ground and hitting brush etc trying to get a buck in close. It amazes me how many coyotes and does come in too..
