Pheasant season opens in a couple of weeks here in California. I plan on driving about 500 miles each way for a 2 day hunt... long way to go for 6 birds. what do you think?

To me if it makes you happy then it is more than worth it.
If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck it must be dinner.

Guilty as charged. 7 1/2 hour drive to hunt grouse in Quebec. I've done it twice!

If I could afford the gas, I'd probably be driving around like that to go on hunting advenures.

I leave for South Dakota November 23 for a 5 day hunt. From Mississippi to South Dakota is a 17 hour trek. Will drive it straight through coming and going. Well worth it for me since we no longer have wild quail here and never have had pheasants.

Your in for some good hunting! Word is that this is the best year in 20+ years up there for pheasants. (So I've heard through people who know locals up there). Ought to be a fun time.

Where did you go hunting in CA which was a 500 mile drive one-way?

You live close to me (I reside in San Diego).
