Upland Seasons in Your Area

Here in NS the earliest season is for pheasant preserves.

Aug. 1 - Mar. 31, 2006 - Pheasant Preserves

Oct. 1 - Dec. 31 - Ruffed Grouse

Nov. 1 - Dec. 15 - Wild Pheasant

Nov. 1 - end of Feb. - Rabbits
Build memories, take a kid out doors and teach them about nature by interacting with it, hunting and fishing.

Learn from the past, don't dwell on it.

Our upland game bird season in my area runs from sep.16-dec.18
This includes, sharp tailed grouse, ruffed grouse, spruce grouse and
Hungarian partridge.

There is no season for small game. ie: rabbits, grey squirrell, you can shoot as many as you want all year round. But furbearing animals, ie:red squirrell, fox and coyote, require a trapping licence to hunt

Is it september the 8th yet???

Ptarmigan Aug. 27
mourning dove Sept.1
Blue and Ruffed grouse Sept. 10
Cottontail& snowshoe Sept. 17
Chukar Sept. 17
Sage Grouse &Huns Sept. 17
Quail Nov. 5
Pheasant Nov. 5
Those are the major upland hunts, there are some other oddballs but those are the ones I do or have done in the past.
There is no help for this kind of insanity. I'm just a duck hunter, and should not be held accountable for all my actions between October 1st and freeze-up. Gordon MacQuarrie
