Blue Quail

Postby Escopeton » Mon Jan 19, 2009 11:55 am

We did a quick road trip to the southern part of the state for a scalie hunt. These quail can land in front of you and practically disappear into the brush; they are so fast.

This is the landscape of where we hunted. Mesquite, Spanish Spear, cholla and various grasses is where these birds call home.

The birds numbers aren't great but we did find a few covies to bust up and chase.

Here is Kyle C. of Albuquerque with a couple of birds taken during the afternoon. His gun a Fabarm.

My total for the trip was three. Others in our group had two to four birds. Good time for all of us including the dogs.

I love hunting quail, but I never knew that it would include so much running.
