They used to band them dang near at the end of a buddy's driveway. Sitting by a dead tree in his yard he shot 5 banded with one a $100 reward and a $10 reward. I've shot banded pigeons before.

i haven't shot one. there is a banded one that lives at/near school and it is in real trouble if it gets close to me after the season starts. it kinda reminds me of this drake mallard that was double banded. it showed up one season and never left, it was safe though cause it lived at the police station and never strayed more than 20ft from the building.

My partner shot one last season, called the band in, it was less than a year old and then lost the band...doh. They exist!

They band a lot of them supposedly these days. But I have never seen or heard of anyone I know taking a banded dove. I kill a lot of them too different hunting locations.

Shot one in TN a few years back, and didn't even notice it was banded til we started cleaning birds. Must have been some hot and heavy shooting. Anyway, I called it in an they never sent my certificate  !

Shot my first banded mourning dove last Sep. 6th, 2011. It was banded just north of Salt Lake City, UT on July 26th,2011 and I shot him near Marana, AZ just north of Tucson. I was surprised at how far the little guy traveled from July 26 to Sep. 6th.

Finally got around to re-submitting my band number and such. Killed in NE TN in 2009. Banded in Evansville, Wisconsin in 2007.
