Colorado Fly Fishing

Postby Catfish_Hunter » Tue Jan 12, 2010 9:45 pm

Well me and my brother got out on the river today while it was some what warm and sunny. It's the first time we've been able to go fishing since before archery season. We've been tied up with big game hunting and waterfowl ever since. There was still a little ice on the river but this time of year on The Roaring Fork River is what I consider the best. Maybe not for the hatches or the great number of fish being caught, but simply its the only time of year these gold medal waters arn't slammed with guides and tourists fisherman from who could imagine where. Don't get me wrong we catch a few fish this time of year and some decent sized ones at that. We ended up with 4 browns and 2 rainbows in a short period of time. The bigest being a rainbow my brother caught right at 18".

A few pics of the fish and me trying not to fall in the river walking on the ice.

Those are some nice pics. Makes me want to sit down, tie up some flies, and wait for spring.

We got out on the river for a little while today. Still cold and snowy, but not too much ice on the river. We ended up with 3 browns and a rainbow within about an hour. :thumbsup1:

Thanks man. I think I'm a better fisherman than I am hunter anyways. The ducks were landing all over us while fishing though. Kind of made me wish I was duck hunting.
