I have a jiffy auger that will run for about 10 seconds and then die. what would cause this to happen?

It might have something to do with the brand.

My dad's jiffy does the same thing :lol3:

I've heard more horror stories about jiffy than any other auger. However, I do know several diehards whose Jiffy drills work great.

My eskimo is the most dependable thing I own. I drill 1000+ holes a year. Most in over 24 inches of ice.

Probably needs a good carb cleaning. Modern fuels are not kind to 2 strokes.

I got the auger for free so cant complain about what brand it is. I think all that needed to be done was to adjust the carbs.

this is all you need to know.ethanol is bad for 2 strokes.sounds like a sticky float,or low speed is plugged with ethenol jelly.just for sh*ts and giggles check all the lines from the fuel, and to the carb.if it has a primer check all orifaces.
it didnt smell like that when i ate it

The best Ethanol treatment Ive found for my 2-smokes is Startron's Enzyme Fuel Treatment.

I have not yet needed to store it tho. But I would definetly put a fuel stabilizer in, if I was going to shelf the fuel tanks for more than 3 months.
