Looking for a New Depth Finder

Postby kruse » Wed Mar 27, 2013 7:00 am

I want to get a new depth finder for my boat this year. I would like one with a GPS on it. I don't want to spend a lot. Any suggestion. Would be very helpful.

it depends on what you are going to be using it for, how serious you are, etc.

the one i posted the link to will more than likely do everything you need it to do, and at the current price is an absolute steal. i just picked one up for my little aluminum river boat, i was using an older bottomline on it until now. on my nitro i run two HDS-8s with structure scan. i definitely dont know everything about them, but i know a littlebit; what questions do you have? you didnt ask any in your original post, just asked for recommendations. also, it you haven't already, check out youtube; tons of videos/ info on there.

off-topic,

You could pick up a used HB 788ci for about 300 or so probably. I have had good luck with mine. If you're wanting to go to down imaging maybe look at the 597. http://store.humminbird.com/products/41 ... D_DI_Combo
If you're thinking side imaging go with nothing less than the 998 if you can swing it. I was gonna go 898 but sprung for the 998. It's good but the 1198 is better. Screen size is important especially with the si units, imo.
