where abouts will you be will help alot.

if fishing lures from the surf you want an 8 or 9' medium heavy spinning outfit. lure choices: storm wildeye shads, bombers, bucktails, a couple poppers, diamond jigs and assorted metals.

for bait you want 9 or 10' surf rod
bait choices: clam, bunker, sand or blood worms, squid strip spearing combo for fluke

i can get alot more spacific if i find out where you will be going

yea pretty much hit the nail on the head there..

add to that list some assorted fin-s minnows and some ratt-l-traps for weakfish and you should be in business.

Don't really know squat about ocean fishing, except for when you catch something it's a blast! Fished off of a pier in Florida once, guy's were catching there bait first, then catching bigger fish, don,t know what they were, except for a few smaller shark's were caught. Buddy of mine just got back from Alaska halibut fishing, he said they did pertty good. Good luck
Any day in the outdoor's is better than at work

Can you believe I lived in southern California (Orange County) for 10 years and never fished the Pacific? Pretty dumb on my part. Used to surf, snorkel and plain go to the beach all the time, but never fished there. I always went to the mountains (Big Bear area) and fished the lakes and rivers. It was something that I could relate to and knew something about.
Hey, did you grab the blind bag with the shells when we left the truck?
