Carp on a fly

Postby Pumpgunner » Tue May 19, 2009 7:39 pm

Just caught my first carp on a fly rod last weekend, gotta say it was awesome! They fight like hell and are fun to try to cast to without spooking them. My first one weighed 10 pounds easy and I got a few smaller ones too. Give it a try if you're so inclined, I'm guessing it will be the new cool thing in fly fishing in the coming years. :hammer: I gotta do something out here while the rivers are too high to fish.......

They've been doing it here in Fl for a long time. There's these berries that drop on canal edges that they feed on and you tie a berry look alike. BUT, there's way better fish to catch than to mess with shat suckers down here

We've definitely got better fish to mess with out here too, but the rivers are all blown out till late June or early July at least. I've been working on catching some Tiger muskies too. Trying to catch a few carp is extra fun when you're out scouting new duck spots too.

Size 8 soft-hackle prince nymph-I don't think they're very selective, you just have to put it under their nose!
