Sorry, just eatin'fish!

Postby Pete-pec » Thu Jun 25, 2009 5:32 pm

I thought I'd show what we like to catch here in Wisconsin for eating. I know almost everyone has access to Bluegill, bream, brim, whatever you call them, but they seem to get overlooked in the states that have the salt to fish. We love them here, along with our walleye and crappie, but bluegill are my favorite. Here is some big ones I caught in the past few days. These fish aren't monsters in the fish world, but are damn good size for stinking bluegills. 9 to 10 and 1/2 inchers. Maybe only my fellow Midwestern neighbors will appreciate them? :hi:

I love eating bream. One of my favorite fish, when you can catch them big enough and you sir caught some nice ones.

Although bluegill pound for pound fight as well as any fish out there, they just come up a bit small in comparison to the big fish. Now if only they came in a three to five pound package? ...............I'd never fish for these EVER again!

I actually take a week off at the end of October and hit the water pretty serious for those toothy critters. I like to get them when they are putting on the feedbag. It's pretty nice where I go, because we fish the Chippewa Flowage in northern Wisconsin. It's full of rice, and the migrating birds are here at the same time. We duck hunt the morning, fish for Musky in the middle of the day, then bow hunt the evening on our 80. It's a long day starting at 4 AM, and ending at darkthirty, but I wouldn't change it for anything in the World! I know they call the musky a fish of ten thousand casts, but I can guarantee my buddy and I didn't cast 70,000 times this three-day weekend! This was the weekend of Halloween last year.

And two more from that weekend. I wonder how we'll do with 7 days this year? (I showed one already in the single musky picture)

Trust me, if we had salt to fish, I'd be on the water every chance I had! If only to catch fish I have never caught, or to try eating fish I'm not accustomed to.
