I am looking for advice on a good place to take my two kids on an overnight camping trip in a tent at a lake. But I do not want to go to an actual "camp site" that has a lot of other people around. We would like to be able to park close to a lake, so I can have a bunch of gear in the truck like camp grill, fishing gear, fire wood, etc. Then pitch a tent for the night, wake up and fish, then go on a nice back packing trip leaving right from the tent area.
All I am finding is state forest camp sites that I know will have a bunch of other people around. Looking for an area 2 to 3 hours from the Pittsburgh area.
Thanks in advance!

Probably get more advise from the PA forum. This forum would help you pick out a tent and camping supplies more than places to go in your state.

You can camp any place you want in the Allegheny National Forest. If you go up by Kinzua you should be able to fish there.....
