Just got back from the trap club after testing out two 16 yard loads and three 25 yard HDCP loads
with the new DRRF8 wads, made of virgin plastic, to see how well they shot and how much plastic was
left in the barrel.
Rem sts,w209, RedDot at 16grs at around 1145fps broke 50 birds with a full choke in the top and bottom barrels.
Peter BlueMagic,w209, RedDot at 18.2 grs at the 25 yard line out of the bottom barrel full choke, broke 25 straight
with Mag 8's. I saved the 71/2 with 17.5grs of RedDot after seeing how well the 8's did.
Federal GMedal,f209,Unique 22grs, 12s3 wad with 7.5 shot at 25 yards broke 24 targets but the wind at my back was making the birds drop and fly off course but in good conditions with rising targets I am sure 25 would be in the bag.
Now the high point of the story.....................
I checked my barrels after shooting the loads and the barrels were................
CLEAN!! just burnt powder here and there.
I loaded one box with the Mec Jr and put 35 pounds of pressure on the wad and the load was a
Rem sts,w209, 19.5gr GreenDot with 7.5 pellets and it broke 23 clays........................??
Loaded in my 366 progressive with cb 3118a wads I can break 99 out of 100, so far.
Hoping the DR wad in the 366 progressive will shoot better on the next trip to the club.
I have stayed away from #8's at the HDCP but the RedDot load has me thinking again, since they hit the clays hard.
I will try 7 & 8's with GreenDot the next trip out to see what turns out. Hard to believe that I almost shot up 25 pounds
of mag 8's already, just in my test loads. Well, a few 7/8 and 1oz loads too..........
