My new favorite shotgun sport

Postby mallardman77 » Wed Jul 13, 2005 8:19 pm

I just shot 5 stand for the first time tonight, and what a blast that was. I only shot 2 rounds but i'm hooked on it. My scores were rnd1:17/25,
rnd 2: 22/25. If you haven't tried this sport look into it, it's great practice for the duck blind!

5 stand is a game in which there are 5 stations and pre-set target throwers each stand requires two double targets and one single, in some cases two shots can be used to hit the single target.

ps....I have been asked to shoot several competion 5 stand courses....but its that last single target that you make your final scores on...when one shoots sporting clays competition you do not even get to have a shotgun to your shoulder it must be seen by the judge below the elbow when you call PULL!

I really enjoy sporting clays too, but...not too many clubs around here are putting on shoots in the summer time, mostly in the spring only

You will become hopelessly addicted and I and other serious shooters will tell you, it gets very expensive......shotguns, shells, reloading supplies, gas to travel to different shoots and so on.

You should join the NSCA and shoot registered targets, you will enjoy it.

P.S> I shoot about 10,000 rounds of 12 gauge shells every year.
