What kind of competing are ya talkin 'bout?

I dont regularly, but this spring/summer I was in the ATA's youth league. I didnt do so hot, but it was a good experience.

If I could find the time, I would love to start. Time is kind of a tuff thing to find sometimes though.

I'm talking about trap, skeet, and sporting clays. How many competitions do you guys attend yearly.

Well this was my first year. There was only one big Comp. at the end.

That was just up here though

Yeah. That's cool. Nothing like getting to compete at something you love doing.

Compete? If you join the ATA or PITA (Pacific) you can shot any of the shots nation or state wide. Some states have 20 or more shots a year. Some of your better shooters go from shot to shot; to win $$, prizes, and be known as the "BEST" in their class. ( AAA,AA,A,B,C, & D ) this travel can start in Calif and end in NY or Fla!!! These guys & girls are seriousabout their shooting. Try shooting 5,000 to 8,000 shells a year for 10 - 20 years ... Later Ed.

Just to see if I recognise your name when I read the score tables for all the competitions. Mine is Duncan Lippert, you probably won't see me. I'm not that good yet, not good enough to make the review.

No competition any more. Use to do NSSA, ATA, and then NSCA. Used to burn up between 15 and 20k targets a year. Now married with kids. Shoot maybe 3K targets a year now. All for fun and mostly sporting clays and 5-stand now. Also did some competitive rifle shooting for a number of years. I miss all the shooting but not the intense competitive shooting so much. I got tired of the never-ending quest for perfection that higher-level skeet and trap demand. Sporting clays is much more fun and perfect scores are not required. I don’t feel like I blow the whole shoot if I miss one her an there. I am just so darn competitive that I evenly take all the fun out of something if I start shooting to win and not to have fun. Now I only shoot non-competitive shoots or at leas non registered.
More ammo! I need to shoot something!
