Crosshairs on the shoulder, and you killed it at 500 yards?

I know this isn't a predator but I shot a groundhog at 410 yards with a .204. I did shoot a fox at 250 yards a couple of years ago with the same gun.

I have a really long gas line on some of my deer land, and wanted to shoot one way off so I had a Pie plates set up with yardage on them out to 700 yards. Practiced all summer, and killed a doe at 592 yards. Shot her a little far back but she didnt run far. Shot with a .308 sighted in for 300 yards. Held 32 inches over the back. Judged the height by the depth of the chest. Only one I have ever shot at over 350yds. Did kill a big ten point on a road bed at a little over 300yds from a sitting position just using my knees to rest on

8 FEET? @ 450 yards there is not 8 feet of drop in any 22-250 bullet @ that distance.

My lord, I'm glad I missed that the first time.

My 22-250 @ 3775fps drops 5.75MOA at 500....for conversation.

6 clicks must be one of those awsome counter sniper scopes i have heard about. maybe he is running it about 8000fps that would make 6 clicks close

My .220 Swift is zeroed at 200 yards. 24X scope, used to do a bunch of fox hunting with it. We started shooting them in the head to get more for the fur. At one point I had 22 in a row shot in the head. You don't have to hold more than a few inches over their back at 450 yards. Best, not longest, shot I ever made was a coyote that was alerted to my presence and was out past a 1/4 mile fenceline which is 440 yds for the distance impaired. She was sitting on her butt peeking over the grass, and there was quite a crosswind. I put it about a foot high and a foot off to the left and hit her squarely between the eyes. My buddies were watching with a spotting scope, and I could here them howl when I hit her. That was 16 years ago, and we still talk about that hunt. I probably could shoot that shot a dozen times and never hit her, one of those days.

Longest running shot lasered out at 471 yards it was the 11th shot out of a 30 rounder in an AR-15. longest on a standing shot lasered at 542 yards laying in the snow with a bipod on a 6mmX284 built on a ruger 77 action

I'd like to know what magic .220 and .22-250 bullets you guys are shooting at 450-500 yards where you can hold just a few inches above their backs or right on their shoulders and not suffer the 20-30 inch drop everyone else gets at that range with those guns. Share so the rest of us can buy a few and have similarly baffling tales to tell.

I hear you ohsay. My tests have shown sited in 1.5 " high at 100 yds

1" hi @200
3" low @300
15" low @400
24" low @450
40" low @500

all a little give and take depending on bullet weight and caliber but close my 6mm x 284 shaves a few inches off the drop beyond 350 yds. Given my experience and testing you can tell that most people have a hard time judging distance beyond 150-200 yrds. If you listen to where they held you can get a pretty good idea of the actual distance the shot was
