Need some input... I have never posted on the predator forum, but I have only started coyote hunting a little over the last couple of years. I have been using my .30-06 with 125 grain. Now I can't find 125 grain and I am getting tired of rezeroing for deer with 150's and then coyotes. I want to buy a new rifle, but EVERYONE is sold out because of the school shooting. I have been consider a .22-250 or a .223. I prefer bolts. I love the Savage line up as long as they have Accu Triggers. The issue is that I don't have a thousand bucks to throw at a new gun and scope setup. Wal-Mart can order a Savage Axis for around $300 buck, but it doesn't have an Accu Trigger. That adds a trigger job for about 60 bucks. Now add a scope...there is another couple hundred. I hunt in Southwest Missouri which is the heart of the Ozark Mountains. The places I can coyote hunt are shots of no farther than 400 yards. We get lots of cross winds through the valleys so I want something fairly able to take winds of 10-15 MPH. I have never sold any furs and don't have a clue about how to sell them. So far, the few dogs I have shot, I just save the skulls to hang in my hunting room. Ducks and geese have about bankrupted me (LOL) so this is just an extra way to stay outside hunting. Any help on what to buy??? I am trying to stay away from .223 since every one that has them has bought every last round of ammo and I don't see getting any in time to hunt within a few weeks!!!
