Postby 919QuackerStacker » Sat Dec 12, 2009 12:49 pm

i have a 2001 polaris sportsman 500 h.o. the other day when i was riding it the 2 low beam head lights went out and the speed needle on the speedometer spun all the way around and is hung under 0 mph any clue what would cause this and what do i need to do to correct it the guy at the polaris shop said he wasnt sure what caused it and the only thing to he knew to do is replace the speedo but it can run from 150 to 350 $$$$

Sounds electrical so check all your fuse's, wires, solenoids and whatever else is on that thing.

i know those are bad for speedo sensors, its located on the RF wheel and runs about $90, but im not sure if thatd make it spin all the way around like that...

Is the 4wd still working?

yes the four wheel drive is workin fine locks in when u hit the switch and unlocks fine too hook to upper pod apart the other day lookin to see if maybe there was a fuse that had blown or somethin wiggled the plugs on the back of it cranked it up and the speedo come back around to 0 and seems to be pretty accurate as far as mph and odo but i still only have high beam head lights  i looked the whole 4 wheeler over for a fuse but i cant find the first one anywhere maybe if i take the plug back apart and blew it out good and put some dieletric grease in there maybe its not makin a good connection? this even has the guys at the polaris shop stummped he said if the 4wd wasnt workin then it would for sure be the speedo
