Hi all, I'm looking at getting a 4x4 extended cab Tacoma this spring. I've always wanted one and they seem to be the best 3/4 size truck in the last 10-20 years as far as longevity. I've heard things about the frames rusting, and I was just curious if anyone here who owned one or had some knowledge about it could give me feedback. Any regrets about the purchase, any major problems?

I seem to be the minority having a lot of problems with the 2005 I had.
Wind noise around windshield.
Chipping paint on hood and rockers.
Idler pully bearing siezed.
Gas lid door broke off.
Squeeky leaf springs.
Traded it after 2 years as I did not knopw what was going to break next.
Thousands on the boat.
Hundreds on decoys.
Time away from the wife....priceless

I have a 2006 w/the access cab. 4 cyl/5spd. Aside from the leaf springs squeaking, it's been a great truck. Just turned 139,000 miles. I drive it like my old Dodge Ram I had. I hual wood, tow my 20' alaskan everywhere with it. Now mind you it doesn't have the power of a V-8 but I don't regret buying it one bit.

Ive got the 2010 access cab, i love it. theres 2 things i dont like about it. I bought it back in September and it's already getting some rust spots on the bumper, and the stereo system is pretty weak. Other than that though I'm totally happy with it. I would strongly recommend one.

I bought my 2004 Taco used four years ago. It has made many trips up and down the beaches of the Outer Banks. Great off-road vehicle. Received a letter regarding possible frame rust from Toyota last year. I took it in for an inspection. They found no rust and rust-proofed it for free. It is my family vehicle of choice. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do.

The Taco is a great truck but they don't get much better gas mileage then the much bigger TUNDRA which can haul more, tow more and pack more.....

Toyota has a reputation for standing behind their products.
I have a 2000 Tacoma with 180,000 miles on it.
I had to replace an O2 sensor and last year I had to replace the factory muffler. The tailpipe was still good.
There was a frame rust-through problem on some trucks, but Toyota acknowledged the issue and developed a very suitable policy to deal with it.http://jalopnik.com/376911/rusty-toyota ... -the-value
