Weather Radio for Vehicle

Postby Dingbatter 2 » Mon Jul 18, 2011 2:25 pm

Does anyone know of a weather radio that I can mount in my vehicle (12 volt)? I know they make them, but darn if I can find one.

I use a smartphone app called "Scanner Radio". Works great.

Some CB's also have weather bands.

I really don't want to go back to a cb. Wouldn't it be nice if someone had a simple weather radio that you could just plug into the cigarette lighter. Or, better yet, wouldn't it be great if in all of those fancy 4X4 "outdoorsy" testosterone dripping trucks that the limp-wristed boys working for the big three would simply add weather channels to the radio dial. Any duck hunter worth his salt follows the weather 24-7.

Just out of curiosity why do you want one. You can get on a iPhone or iPad (or similar device) or a computer and get accurate weather for the day. A forcaste generally doesn't change much in a 12 hour period. I can see it if you are hunting big water from a boat then you really need it for safety sake to know of any imminent changes. I use a VHF marine radio in my boat that has several NOAA weather channels but I sometimes hunt the big water bays and need to know of changes especially the winds.
There are a lotofportable weather radios outtherethat would probably fit your needs but Iamnot aware of any that you install

I hunt a lot on the coast, (3-4 hour drive from the house) and the weather down there changes a lot. I don't have an ipad. I have a radio in the boat and I monitor the marine broadcast several times a day. Fronts speed up and slow down and I've seen the forecast change in a matter of an hour or two. Sometimes I just don't have time to check the forecast before I leave the house. During the winter I become a weather addict.

How about something like this?
Comes with a vehicle adapter and it has marine bands, which couldn't hurt on the coast.
Take it on the boat as a backup when you launch.

Or if you really want to mount it in the vehicle...

Thank you Tucker! I need a new radio for the truck, so this may be just the ticket!
