chrome (plastic) bubbling/peeling

Postby aunt betty » Wed Oct 09, 2013 10:08 am

I am thinking about re-doing ny grill due to bubbling.
Paint it flat black or possibky use black bedliner.
Anybody know how to make it stick?

bubbling on a dodge grille... whats new.

I had a buddy do plasti-dip on the grilles of two trucks. It holds up a lot better than paint (seen that done, it chips too easy) and sticks on just fine. He didnt have a bubbling problem so he sanded the chrome with like 60 or 80 grit sand paper and wipe it down with alcohol and let it dry and paint away... while the grille is off the truck of course. and honestly the plasti-dip/ bed liner stuff looks pretty trashy even when its good.

but with the bubbling you will be able to pull all the chrome off and then paint it all.... but for the trouble thats worth you can buy an all black OEM grille.

best option would be to buy a new grille or live with the little bubble that may never spread any more, or might be twice that size in a few months.
