To get a different sound all he really needs to change is muffler.

Very true. If he is looking for a bit more power, then spending the money for a cat back makes more sense.

Flowmaster is the only way to go on a 8cyl dodge.

Flowmaster's sound good... I always went for the cheap approach and just put dual exhaust strait out the back without mufflers, and then if you live in an area where you don't have to go through emmissions testing, you can take out the catalytic converter and make it even louder. And if you live in a city where you have to get tested you can cut the exhaust behind the converter and take a pipe or something and break up the insides and gun the motor and it will blow everything out, weld it up and it looks like your converter is still there. Not that i've ever done that.

Flowmaster 40 series. The 40 is one of their loudest. If he is worried about droning or interior noise get a 50 series. The 50 will still be loud on the outside and under heavy acceleration but otherwise you won't notice it.

summit racing has them, maybe even ebay. Make sure you get the right one for the right sized tubing.
