glasspack

Postby hunter121390 » Thu May 01, 2008 9:17 am

I want to keep my truck loud, seeing as it is now. The reason that it is loud is because I have two cracks in the y-pipe, which im going to fix this weekend. Do you guys think for a cheap way to keep it loud, a glasspack would be a solution? I found one at autozone for like 20 bucks. Eventually I want to straightpipe it, but for now the glasspack would work and I'm just wondering if it would be a good idea to put one on.

I take it you are talking about your Blazer? IMHO a glasspack would sound like junk on there. I wouldn't even consider running straight pipes on there....it will sound like a ricer. Go with something like a Flowmaster if you want to make it or keep it a little louder.

i was trying to look into a flowmaster exhaust and i can't find one for my blazer.

another thing is im really short on money right now and dont have money for a flomaster exhaust/muffler. i know the flowmaster would be better.

y would it sound like a ricer if i straight piped it?

because it is a v6 not a v8 and at higher rpms it just doesn't have the throaty sound a v8 has. You don't need the whole exhaust system, just the muffler. You can probably get one off ebay for $50 or less.

if it is the big 4.3 liter v6 then it would probably sound fine either way.

I had a 96 Silverado with the 350 in it and had glasspacks and they were very loud. I have a Dodge Ram now with a Flowmaster 40 on it and the Chevy was alot louder.

Yeah I loved the sound of that thing, it had it's own distinct sound to it as well. This may sound wierd but (I used to listen to it alot)there was a different sound when shifting from 1st to 2nd then 2nd to 3rd it just sounded cool. I wish I still had that truck.

i have a glasspack on my '69 ford, it sounds great, i will post a video i took this winter of it, it still had rough acceleration and a sticky gas pedal at the time so ignore that.
