Ultimate Duck Truck

Postby Newf Hunter » Sun Jun 22, 2008 11:10 pm

All right so just for fun, If you were going to customize a truck just for duck and goose hunting, what mods would you do, rougher tires, spray-in bed liner, gun racks, etc.?

Maybe something along these lines?

http://www.flywayhighway.com/ducktruck.html

Probably not too fuel efficient but it looks cool as hell!

mine would be similar

first off i would have a 2008 Ford f-250 with full size cab in black.

i would have a custom front bumper with a warn winch

no extra paint unless i did a 30,000 dollar paint scheme with ducks landing against a sunrise/sunset

interior would be camoed with gun racks on the back window

i would not have a gps system

i wouldn't have a shell over the bed

i might rhino line it

tow package for the boat and goose trailer

5 inch suspension lift and Mickey Thompson Baja claws or some super swampers to grab into the muddy field or slippery boat launch.

i'd probably keep the chome on the truck

1/2 pickup of some kind. (really no need to a 3/4 ton unless you are goign to actually USE THE TOWING CAPACITY!)

Fabricated all aluminum camper shell. Capable of supporting at least two ghenoes or layout boats on tope of the truck.

2-3 inch leveling kit. 31-32 inch BFG AT tires depending on truck. (Dont see the point in wasting the money on a big lift kit and tires. All you are doign ti making ti a lil more difficult to pull a trailer, wasting gas money, and wearing out parts)

Rhino line the bed and all rocker panels.

Electric radiator fans, under drive pulleys, CAI, and full exhaust.

Custom front bumper with winch. Receiver winch mounted in bed that would fit into rear hitch if needed.

GPS Navigation

Aftermarket lights on campershell, front bumper and rear bumper.
Lets see.....for functionality that would be about it. I dont see the point of much else. A lot of it is just for show.

oh yeah, flood lights on the front bumper are a must, spanning a 120 degree area when lit.

Mine would be a Black 2008 Chevy HD 4-door with a 6.6 duramax with ram air intake. through hood scoops, 6 inch lift, american racing rims,35 or larger toyo M/Ts with nice custom bumpers, brush guard, cab lights, fuzz buster, GPS, no topper (my preferance), rhino lining, fender flares, rhino lined bottom 8 inches of truck, Custom stack exhaust, with a weatherguard toolbox for the guns, camo seats, and that oughta do it for me. oh and I would refine my own vegetable oil for a hell of a lot cheaper than deisel to run this badass rig.

I am 16 and this is my dream rig and I would plan on using it too.

You know the machine to refine the oil is around 3000 dollars and now all the grease joints are starting to charge you for the grease so that will give you something to think about.

My Uncle build's K.F.C's for a guy who has converted his truck to run off of the used cooking grease. His 05 chevy would burn it but his 07 wouldn't. Something to do with the emissions I suppose.

Ideally mine would be a 1/2 ton diesel, which are supposed to debut in 2010 IIRC. It would have probably 4-6" of lift to clear 35" Mud Terrains, both axles would have selectable lockers, and have an upgraded intake and exhaust as well as a chip. Front and rear aftermarket bumpers, winch in the front along with some Hellas or PIAAs to light up the night. Cargo rack up top with a hi-lift, full-size spare and trail tools such as an axe, shovel, etc).

That's what tractors and dozers are for!

Or... a better reason to own two CXTs.

My perfect "duck truck" would be a late 80's 2500 series Suburban 4x4 with a "better than stock"454 and 4" lift. I'd go through it and mechanically restore/upgrade the drivetrain and suspension, install a stainless X-pipe exhaust and spray the entire inside and outside (sans dashboard) with green Line-X. It would have vinyl seats and floor pan drains so I could wash it out with a water hose.

The front end would have a powder coated brush guard fabricated from 1" tube steel. In the back would be a truckvault with a dog box attached on top of it.

There's a guy around here that has a little suzuki sidekick all rigged out. Mud tires, gun/mojo pole holder on the outside, it looks junky, but it'll go anywhere you need it to. Pretty slick for just running around the farm.
