Gm Recall on 8.1l

Postby waterfowlhunter » Sun Nov 23, 2008 6:34 am

Well my second CPS just went out and I happened to be hunting Fish point a couple weeks ago. there was a guy there with a 2001 with the 8.1l and he was telling me about the recall. # 06083 or 07V521000.

I have been nursing this one for a few weeks now (second one) and last night I had to remove the neg battery connector and reapply power before it would start. Blowing the code for Crankshaft position sensor. I replaced it once already and is cost me $80 for the part.

This is considered a SAFETY Recall by the NHTSA but GM did not send out any recall notices on it. Seems to me that they would be required to send out notices if it is a safety issue.

Looks like the truck is heading for the shop on Monday. Aparently the new one is a completely different design and will not fail.

First one failed around 30,000 miles and the second at 50,000.
