Yup, hats off to the Hawks, theyve surpassed allot of expectations for a young team. No disputing that. Theyre gonna have to tighten it up somemore and adjust the offense to get things going in their favor. Theyre having all sorts of trouble getting through the neutral zone and gaining the blue line. And, when theyre turning it over, the Wings are transitioning very well creating lots of odd man rushes...which burned them last night.
So far im very happy with Detroits play. Great defense and great goaltending from Osgood when called apon. He didnt have a chance on either goal in game two. A fluky deflection off Ericsson's skate and a great deflection by Toews with traffic. Those aside he was very solid between the pipes. My only gripe is that on the offensive side of things Datsyuk, Holmstom and Hossa have been far to quiet. Theyre still doing great things out there on both sides of the puck, id just like to see them getting on the score sheet a bit more. This is a prime example of why being a deep team is so important come playoff time. It shown through in the Anahiem series and is doing so here against the Hawks.
Im looking to more fast paced exciting hockey. I pick Detroit in 5...GO WINGS!
As far as the Carolina/Pittsburgh series, im hoping the Canes can put the Pens down, but im not so sure they can match the firepower of the Pens. I think theyll win a couple contests because they are a very resilient team. I think itll go 6 and i give the nod to the Pens...Hopefully im wrong about this series.
