I'm going out scouting with my "mentor" in a few weeks. And I have nothing to wear! lol!

Can anyone recommend a store and/or brand for waders that are better suited for women? Boots?? I was at Bass Pro this past weekend and every thing just looks huge to me.

Also, gloves - Bass Pro only carries men's waterfowl gloves. But the mediums were too big & smalls out of stock. Any suggestions??

I'm in the Baltimore, MD area so the weather's already cool here.

Well I can't speak from experience, the few times I need waders I wear a pair of rubber men's waders. Eventually, I'll upgrade to something better. However there are a few places that you can pick up women's waders. Cabela's has a couple of different options for women. The Ultimate Cazadoras were researched and designed especially for women. SHE Outdoor Apparal also offers a pair of waders designed especially for a woman as well. Those are the two companies that I know off-hand that have better women's options. If anyone knows of any other options I'd love to learn about them.

Hey thanks. I'll google the brands and see what comes up. I don't have a Cabella in our area, so I'd have to pay for shipping. Would you believe I found a pair (online) at Walmart? The site to store delivery time is 3-5 days or so. I'm worried that they might not arrive on time though.

Still could use some ideas on gloves if anyone has any suggestions.

ps: LOVE your signature line!

In the south we have Academy Sports & Outdoors, they have an online store. The store carries womens breathable stockingfoot waders for 70 and I picked up a pair of neoprene womens stocking foot waders (from them) a couple of years ago, I also found a pair of womens neoprene waders at Cabelas. Most of the neoprene waders were around 40m. All the waders have been either the house brand at Academy (the brand is Maggelan) or Hodgeemann.

you would be well advised to buy a pair of breathable waders and a pair of quality extreme wader pants.

I got mine at Cabelas, they are great
I'm thinking of making a trip out to Cabelas. I"m sure my sons would enjoy it. And their grandparents live in the area.

My brother-in-law swears by his breathables as well. Haven't had the chance to give them a try though. Have fun if you go to Cabela's! I find it to be a very dangerous shopping experience. lol.

Hi all, fit isn't a problem with waders for me, I can wear standard men's type without a problem....my hubby and I share a pair we got from Gander Mountain here in the Minneapolis area. Neopreme, quite warm and comfy...til I need to...er...water the cattails. Then, off goes the jacket and all so I can attend to nature's call and in November in MN, that gets cold! The alternative would be hip boots but they aren't comfortable or as warm as chest waders. So I'm wondering if they make neopreme chest waders that are, well, female-friendly for this purpose?

That's a great question!

Kim in Camo - don't the mens sizes run differently? do you mind pm'g your "regular" size vs what size your hubbies waders are?

Argh. Little fingers on my keyboard just erased my last post. lol.

Kim, welcome to the site! Hope you guys have a great hunt today!

As for waders, I borrowed a couple pairs from friends last week. One was a men's size 8 and that seemed to work out pretty good for me. A touch big, but that's what I expected. If that was all I could find for a decent prize, I'd pair a pair. I actually have a lead on a pair that need a patch job, so I'll probably buy those from a friend cheap and fix them. I just have to try them on and make sure they fit.

She Outdoor Apparel has a pair of waders that zip, which might make it easier to "take care of business" while out in the marsh. http://www.shesafari.com/v2/waterfowl-wader-1.php Can't speak from experience though.

Have you ladies heard of the Shewee? It's a device that women can use to pee standing up. I can't bring myself to buy one, but I've read about other ladies who love there's for hunting. Hey whatever works I guess. lol.

OMG!! That is HYSTERICAL!!! Just the imagery...had me laughing pretty hard. Ok ladies, who's brave enough to try one out (I don't know that i could pee standing up without laughing & thereby peeing all over myself!) :lol3:

Yeah, that's about it. lol. And something that's been used for that, um, "purpose" is the last thing that I want to stick back into my blind bag. Y'know?

I'm with you Kim. lol. I guess I can see if you're in a boat a lot or something. Maybe? :lol3:

These are the most women friendly waders I think for the purpose of watering the reeds! They wear like pants and come with the heavy insulation you would want for late season duck hunting, only thing wrong is they limit the depth of water you can wade, but really most duck hunting is done on shallow water where they can feed on bottom growing greens, unless you are hunting divers and then it does not matter the depth, and more than likely you will be in a boat with no need for waders! Other than launching the boat and landing the boat, then I would say hip waders would do the job!

THanks Pete. I plan on going out to Cabela's in a couple weeks (12/18) to do some christmas shopping & take the boys out for some fun. I"ll take this with me & look for the waders. I'm pretty certain I'll wind up getting some from Cabela's than any where else.

Curiousity brought me on this thread. If in any case there will be another need for waders, here's something I think might be of good help, well, this is an outdoor gear store here. I've seen a good pair of nice gloves and all sorts of waders, I've seen a pink and burgundy waders for the ladies.

Pink waders?? That's almost funny! I'll check out the site. It's funny how much you can learn in a matter of a few outtings. I'm still leaning towards just making a trip out to Cabela's. I'm in search of a good (camo) spring jacket now for Turkey season. The gloves situation still needs remeding. I have a couple of those camo, fingerless pair that I'd been using to shoot trap with on cold days.
