I have a question about eating of forbidden animals that's the bible talks about in the old testament. I believe that was under Moses law and that does not pertain to us any more because we are under grace now. However some people tell me that I'm sinning if I eat pig or birds with web feet(ducks). Can someone please clear this up for me and give me your thoughts on this?

I believe it was to seperate the Jew from the world ,,not that they're a better people just chosen.God also spoke in the new testament ''Rise kill and eat'' and all manner of ''unclean'' animals were seen ,,God said what thou has cleansed ,,THAT call not,,common also in the old testament Genesis 9 :2 upon EVERYY living fowl of th air upon all the fishes of the sea ,into your hand are they delivered. 9:3 says every moving thing that liveth SHALL BE MEAT FOR YOU!!!!!!!

In Acts 10 it says

Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, "Rise, Peter; kill and eat." 14 But Peter said, "Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean." 15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed you must not call common." 16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

This was used to prepare Peter to share the Gospel with a gentile. There are a number of scriptures that show that under the new covenant we can eat unclean things.

You know God had a reason for naming certain foods as unclean. Jordan Rueben in his book "The Maker's Diet" talks in detail about the health benefits of eating according to Leviticus. With that being said. I believe as a Christian I have the freedom to eat clean and unclean food. However I recognize the health benefits of following God's plan. I hope this helps.

Hello folks, I'm new to this forum and it is nice to see they have a place for believers. To answer your ?, G-d has told us in Torah not to eat these animals. It is a commandment . We can not pick and choose what commandment we are going to follow. If you love him you will follow all his commandments.

loopmtz, When I write the word G-d this is out of respect to my father in heaven. Your second ? Our G-d told us not to eat these animals. This is his commandment.
Nolimitfoiles, This is G-d commandment, the covenants build upon one another . G-d never changes. What did Yeshua say in Mattityahu (Matthew 5:17-5:18) Don't think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete. Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from Torah-not until everything that must happen has happened. And this has not happen yet. G-d did not make things clean from the death of Yeshus. Yeshus death was to pay for the penalty of sin not to take away sin. And if he had made things clean way do we still have sin today ?
Please read Matthew 5:19-20 And this is y I try to live a Torah life. I love my Father in heaven.

Now Act 10:9-16 G-d use the animals to show Kefa (Peter)there is no different between unclean and clean people.
Jews or Gentiles. If you read on, when Kefa went to visit Cornelius a Gentile the next day at Cornelius home this is something a Jewish man would not do. The Jews saw Gentiles as a unclean person.
I also have a commentary on Genesis 9:2 By John Vujicic that talks about eating unclean meat.If folks would like to read it I would be happy to email it to them. It's to long to post.

This should clear thing up on Genesis

Here's the deal guys...if you choose to eat a BLT instead of a turkey sandwich then great. God isn't mad if you do. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I could qualify this with a lot of scripture if someone doesn't agree.
Lets not major in the minors fellas. Legalism is a trap and its contrary to the covenant of grace that we are under.

Keeping Torah was never about salvation by works(First Five Books of the Bible) Torah is a commandment from ELOHIM. We have been under Grace from the garden and not from the sacrifice of YESHUA. YESHUA paid for the penalty of sin which is death. You are right by saying,(There is no condemnation for those that walk with YESHUA) YESHUA was the living Torah. Fill free to PM me if you have other ? on this post. SHALOM

When Jesus came to earth, He came and completed the Law of Moses. He was the ultimate sacrifice, which is also why we (Christians) no longer perform the ritual of killing an animal for forgiveness or remembrance. Jews, I believe, do not eat these animals because they are still waiting for the Savior so the law has not been completed. I may be wrong though.
