I wrote a poem awhile back for a sermon that I was preaching, titled " Obedient Unto Death" . This sermon and this poem illustrates that mind of a person, when they first realize the love Jesus Christ has for them. When they realize, that night in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus could have oh so easily prayed to the Father, received the army of angels, and avoided death. But praise God Jesus was obedient to death! Praise God he never prayed for the angelic army! I just wanted to share this poem with you, it has so deeply touched me, that moment when a lost person understands the gospel, the love of Jesus Christ.
Obedient Unto Death
Sometimes I wonder of what level I can see
The love that Christ Jesus has , for you and me
And so I open to read this old story
About this King, who left His Glory?
At first I could not grasp His plan
How could God, be the Son of man?
The Bible was clear on this place called Paradise
Clear on this fact that is, there had to be a sacrifice
One day I finally understood His love for me
As I heard the story of the place called Gethsemane
And now I love this old, old story
I know why the King, why He left His glory
That night in the garden, Jesus took a stand
The hour near, the time at hand, Jesus Christ, truly fully God, truly fully man
He spoke to Peter, and told the land,
" That thus it must be ", sin has a price
With angels at His hand, ready for command, He said "No!" " I AM THE SACRIFICE"
