Bux2011

Postby duckschooler » Wed Aug 10, 2011 12:08 pm

Well I put out a couple cams last week and picked them up and thought I'd share a couple pics and reviews. I bought a new moultrie m80 and wasn't really impressed. I also bought a couple trophy rocks and from what I've seen they're all hype as I've had the same results with 4 rocks now. My first setup got destroyed, grandma and grandpa had cows get out and they ate all my corn and needless to say I had over 400 cow pics. I was fairly happy with my second setup I got pics of 5 different bucks only 2 are anything to speak of. My first deer is a really clean 8 but he's young and needs to grow, my 2nd deer is mature but he has short tines and lacks mass. Well this weekend I'll be moving cams to other parts of the farm and hopefully come up with a deer to hunt.

That's why I love Kansas . I'm hoping to get a buck (or deer) this year with my bow. Missed a 10 point last year with my uncles 30/30 lever action.

It's definitely a great place to live if your a deer fan, yeah there's no thrill like shooting a deer with a bow. I shot my first buck with a bow from the ground and it seriously took an hour before I quit shaking, everytime I even have a deer come in it's a rush. I used to rifle hunt but after a bow I could never go back it's just not as exciting and you don't have to go through so much prep work to rifle hunt and thats half the satisfaction of hunting.

I've only deer hunted with my bow once and no deer came near. They all stayed 80 yards from me on my aunt and uncles property in OK. This year I'm determined to shoot a deer and a turkey with my bow.

Duckschooler - if you have it available in your area, you might try rice bran. It is cheaper than corn right now and comes in 50lbs bags as opposed to most corn now. It is also more nutritious than corn. Another good thing is that the birds, coons and other critters will stay off of it. Cows will not however. I personally use it when I run my cameras in the summer and don't really bait otherwise. Bucks tend to like it more than does and they get hooked on the stuff.

Only a suggestion for ya, corn works as well, but you tend to feed all the other animals in the woods as well

Velvet's come off my bucks and I have some pics of a new deer. Here's that big ten in the daylight and an odd new buck.

It's behind an old corral, there's a slough that funnels them through that little spot.
