Looking at buying a 25-06 for my sons first deer hunting rifle and I have read alot of good reviews on this rifle for the price. Any thoughts from anyone that has one?

Don't have one, but have only heard good things about them.

I've been very intrigued by them as well. I heard about them when they first came out and did some research on them, only hearing good things from all. Of course it's a $325 gun, so the finish isn't going to be flawless, but come on, it's shoots one inch groups @ 100yds! A lot of gun for the money. I don't think you'll go wrong.

I know that these days it's expected, my point was you get them at such a low price.

Savage also has a new rifle out called the savage edge for roughly the same price. Any thoughts about that one as well?

In general, it is hard to go wrong with a Savage. They make very accurate and reliable rifles. No direct experience with the Edge. I do have a Savage 110 in .243 that has been my main deer rifle for almost 30 years.

Not for sure but i dont think the edge has an adjustable trigger like the marlin... This is the biggest reason i think i am going to get the Marlin... I also here good things about the Marlin...
