Browning is making a centennial 1911 in .22lr...a very neat LITTLE piece to comemorate the anniversary. Kimber is also producing a limited edition anniversary model. There are probably others but these 2 come immediately to mind.

I would bet Kimber would put one out there....I've been seeing more and more Kimber adds in shooting magazines lately.

I saw a article on the net about "the dark days of S&W" where they actually copied the 1911 to make their auto
as well as many other of their guns................
The auther also stated that this gun had a lot of problems and their workmanship was poor and it took a long time to make it
where it might sell to the public.
Even their revolvers were copies and so poor was their work on one, that they had to make it a 5 shot instead of six, to be
able to keep it working and breaking down.

I do know that Colt had several six shot 38 specials.............................

Anyway back on line. The 1911 has come a long way in 100 years. I can't get over all the new gun makers and all the add ons
and custom jobs out there for the buyers. Just saw a tv show (guns & ammo) where it had one of the new xtra super target 45's
that was a tack driver !

Its a great design. I have a SS Springfield Armoury Trophy Match 1911, it is a sweet shooter.

I have 4 1911s kimber ultra 10 II kimber cdp II colt gold cup trophy and a springfield not sure what model just stainless and regular sights. That $600 sprinfield out shoots the $1100 colt. does anyone have a wilson combat or any high dollar 1911? I've always been curious on how well they perform.

The anniversary of the 1911 was actually a couple years back. 1911 was just the year the military adopted it.
