Need Help new rifle

Postby Sarge3226 » Fri Dec 23, 2011 1:44 pm

Hey guys looking to get a new rifle and not sure what I should get. Looking for an all around rifle I can use for sport and deer hunting. I was looking at remington 700's and savage10 308's. Trying to keep it somewhat inexpensive. Let me know your thoughts....

308 or '06 are two great cal's and ammo is always around at any place that sells ammo.
I had a win 100 semi-auto that was sweet,with a box mag ........... clean lines and light.

Remington 700 in .243, .260, or .308 are tough to beat. They are all based on the .308 case and the smaller two offer a good selection of bullets with high BC's.

You need to define sport. Are you talking about punching paper? Bottles and cans? Varmint hunting?

If you want a very light plinking load the 30-06 with the hornady #3005 100 grain lead tip copper jacket base
with 20 grains of imr 4759 at 1600fps ,is a great load for kids or 50 yard rabbits etc, with very low noise and no recoil.

You can also load the 220 grain round nose if you like recoil and a loud "Bang".
