Redfield and Weaver were the old stand bys way back as well as Bushnell, for a scope that would not cost too much and leave you money for lots of ammo. They did not hold up well with the Hvy Magnums heavy recoil but from the 30-06 down they worked great.
Try to get a camels hair brush to get the dust off the lens after blowing as much off as you can in 2-3 breaths or use one of those rubber bulb instraments,some times found in camera shops. A rag or paper tissue can scrach the lens with the dirt particles, if too much pressure is applied.
With a little love it will last a life time.
