6.5x284 Norma

Any thoughts on this caliber? I have a co worker that swears by this caliber being able to take ground hogs all the way up to big game. About the only complaint I can find is short barrel life.

I would love one. It's a niche caliber and not something I'd even consider if you don't hand load but the caliber has a solid following in the long range hunting world and has lots of potential.

Usually this case will shoot the smaller 6mm bullet but putting the larger 7mm into this case is
also an option and works out well with the bigger critters.

These cases are usually belted, due to the extra velositys but I would not worry about wearing out a barrel, since
you need around 5,000 "Magmum loads" to 10,000 standard loads for your rifle to start having accuracy problems.

Chech the throat of the rifle for gas cutting wear on the lands and grove area, there should be very little ,if any,in a good rifle.
