Sig Sauer v Glock

Postby gock5 » Fri Dec 14, 2012 5:48 pm

I know this is a bit out of the realm of the Fuge, but thought I would ask. I'm in the market for a .45 semi handgun. From what I've read up on, it's come down to the Sig Sauer versus the Glock. Your thoughts?

Sig Sauer v Glock

Postby Jason F-18 » Fri Dec 14, 2012 6:59 pm

Both are great guns. Like anything else, it depends on what you are doing with it. They have different actions, so it's like comparing an OU vs Auto.
I prefer the Sig because of the DA/SA action. I feel more comfortable with a pistol in the drawer with one round chambered, but hammer uncooked. Plus, for target shooting, you can typically get a much better trigger pull from a Sig over the Glock

Fwiw, a glock will likely be my next pistol, but will not replace my Sig

Whatever is most comfortable to you. Despite what people say, the Glock is a safe pistol. It is VERY safe. It is "uncocked" technically since the striker is not cocked until you pull the trigger. It's the same as the hammer being uncocked on a SIG. They are both great guns, but I like the Glock since that is what was issued to me and what I was trained on. Go shoot them and then decide. The .45 in a Glock feels like I'm holding a brick, the .40 I'm issued isn't bad at all. The SIG in a .45 will probably feel better to you, but go shoot them and decide.

1911 my main choice. Didnt like the way glocks felt.

Same here on the 1911- I have a Ultra Carry II as my main carry piece but my HD gun is an XDM 4.5" in 45. Between the Sig & Glock my personal preference would be the Sig as the grip angle is more natural for me and I like the DA/SA action and decocker (depending upon the particular model being considered). For a target gun the Sig has a far superior trigger, for HD the choice comes down to comfort and features you want/need.

What caliber does everyone have? .40, .45, 357 or 9 mm?

All real gun calibers begin with a 4 and the best ends with a 5

I'm not a big fan of Taurus personally. I'm a big glock user. Carry either a 19 or 36 every day

Thanks for all the replies. Doing further homework, here's where I'm at.

Sig P220 v Glock 17/19 Gen 4 v Taurus PT 24/7

You guys have already commented on the Sig and the Glock, what about the Taurus?

Opinions are like buttholes where everybody has one and some stink worse than the other...but between the 3 makers you have on your list I'd stick with Sig & Glock and forget about Taurus.
