Let's see some pics of everyone's AR. Just bought mine a few weeks ago and finally received all the goods for it. Colt LE6920MP

Nice AR. I'll throw up some pics of my Daniel Defense V5 later this week. Hoping to order an optic and flashlight for it this fall. How do you like the Eotech? I'm debating between an Eotech and a 1-4x/1-6x variable power scope for my uses.

It depends what your going to be doing with the gun. Range shooting, hunting, or competition. For hunting I think its good up to 100 yrds or so. Anything farther you really want a scope. I have this one setup for predator and hog hunting/ shootin for fun. I like it alot but its hard to be really accurate past 100 yrds with it. Im buying another AR and putting a scope on it. im thinking of getting a DD for my next rifle. How do you like yours?

I like the rifle a lot so far. Shot another 130 rounds this past Saturday on a friend's land. Had a good time. Did some drills and some longer range shooting past 250 yards. Shooting a 2' square gong with backup irons that far away is no fun. This really helped re-affirm the usefulness of a 1-4/1-6x scope. Looking hard at the SWFA SS-HD models. I forgot to get a pic of my rifle this weekend. I'll get one on Saturday as we're gonna be shooting again. Have 330 rounds through it so far. Should have 500 after this weekend. If I can get an optic and mag carriers soon enough I may enroll in the Vicker's Basic Carbine Course on Dec. 1 in Carthage, NC.

So far the rifle has a Geissele SSA trigger (installed before I first shot the gun), a BattleComp 1.0 that I installed at 200 rounds, a Magpul CTR stock and a set of Samson flip-up BUIS. Also have a Vickers Combat Applications sling, a BCM Gunfighter charging handle. Looking to add a weapon light, an optic and an ambi safety when funds allow. Probably gonna get a Surefire X300 Ultra and mount it at 6 o'clock at the end of the rail. I can also run that light on my G34 when the need arises. Rifle isn't getting any other mods after that. Just gonna be shot a lot. I'm right handed but left eye dominant. Recently transitioned to running my AR left handed (can you say awkward). The transition is going well, but I have a lot of work to go to be as proficient as I am when running it right handed. Gonna transition my shotgun to lefty after this duck season.

As far as use, this is a do-it-all gun. Carbine Courses 1-2x per year, several 3 gun competitions per year, general plinking/shooting drills from 10-400 yards, hog and other varmint control and HD rifle.

Finally took some pics today after I went shooting. Nothing special, just another black rifle.

Ran 60 rounds of .223 Tula through it today. No jams, problems, etc. Have read that some DD owners had trouble with Tula so wanted to make sure it ran well in mine. Shot a 18"x18" 1.5" thick steel gong around 200 yards away from prone. Friend has over 750 acres so we have plenty of room to shoot. Once I save up for the SWFA SS-HD 1-6x I'll start doing some 400-600 yard shooting with some match grade ammo and see how that goes. But as it stands I can make hits from prone relatively easily out to 250 yards or so with the BUIS.

Any brand that makes mil-spec quality AR's will suit you well. DD, Noveske, Colt, BCM, LaRue, LMT, etc. I'd be happy with any of them. I'm partial to DD rail systems, however and I fell in love with the V5. Changed the grip and stock last week. Went with the B5 Bravo SOPMOD and the BCM Gunfighter Mod3. Much improved ergo's for my shooting style (nose to charging handle, squared up to target, support hand thumb on top of rail). I'm hoping that SWFA will have a Black Friday sale for the SS HD 1-6x...wanting one pretty bad but am hoping for a deal.

I'm going to try to phrase this without sounding offensive to what one chooses to purchase...I personally prefer to own an AR that conforms to set military minimum standards. I owned a DPMS prior to this. Worked fine for plinking until I started pushing it hard in carbine classes and 3-Gun competitions. I had issues with the castle nut coming loose (so I staked it), had to upgrade the buffer and extractor springs because I was having ejection and FTF issues, etc. Rifle would also keyhole with the heavier 69 and 77 gr. loads I ran for the long steel stages in competitions. So I sold it and got a mil-spec rifle. The quality on key components is just higher overall. The BCG on my DD is properly staked, HPT and MPI tested and chrome lined. Barrel is 1/7 twist, so I can stabilize the heavier (above 69gr.) bullets. Additionally, the barrel is cold hammer forged and chrome lined, which will increase barrel life (not necessary but nice to have when running a lot of cheap steel-cased bi-metal jacket stuff). My DD also eats all the cheap, Russian steel-cased ammo with no issues. My DPMS would choke and FTE, often causing me to have to jam a cleaning rod down the barrel to free the stuck case. Why run steel-case in a higher end rifle? Because I can purchase 4,000 rounds of steel-case for the same price as 3,000 brass-cased rounds. I like to get the best bang for my buck and be able to have an extra 1,000 rounds to shoot/practice with for the same price. Magazine well is properly flared and I have 0 issue in dropping different manufactures magazines. My mil-spec rifle also came with a QD swivel attachment where the buffer tube screws in. My DPMS did not; I prefer to have QD sling setups so that's another plus for my use.

There are tons of DPMS, Olympic Arms, Armalite (recent not original manufacture), Bushmaster, etc. rifles out there who work fine for 90% of the population. There is no reason for the occasional plinker or even the medium use owner to *have* to have mil-spec. But, when people ask me what I recommend, I'll recommend mil-spec every time. You can get a Colt LE6920 for around $1K if you're a savvy shopper. Not much more (usually $200) than a comparable DPMS/Bushy. These are just my opinions and I'm glad your rifle is suiting you well

Sorry for including the other rifle...this is the only photo I have on my phone with guns.

Top is a Howa 1500 308...the AR is a SIG516. I have never fired a single round so can't tell you how it performs.

Maybe I'll get around to shooting it one day...

I'll play. DD M4v5 wearing Magpul MOE stock, grip, vertical grip, rail covers, MBUS, MS4 QD sling, BAD lever, and Aimpoint ML2. Used to shoot CQB with an Armalite CAR-15, sold it to fund this toy, then quit shooting competitions due to lack of time. Other is WASR with Tapco gear, Midwest rails, includes G2 trigger (amazingly better than a normal AK trigger). Both are joys to shoot.
