New carry pistol.

Postby no3topqb » Wed Jan 29, 2014 2:29 pm

I'm looking for another carry pistol. I have a s&w 40 cal I usually carry but I'm just looking for something a little smaller. I really like the look and feel of the Walter pk380 but have read mixed reviews. Also like the bersa ultra pro. I'm not looking for a little pocket pistol, but I did shoot a s&w bodyguard last night. Not a bad lil gun but an ungodly amount of trigger pull... just looking for other opinions. Thanks.

If you are looking for a 380, my pic is a sig238. I have one and love it. glock has a new 380 the model 42. It maybe worth looking at.

If your looking at the pk380 I would take a look at the Walther pps can get 9 or 40. Thinner with a more effective round. I own the 9mm version no issues with close to 2000 rounds. Internals quite similar to a glock imo

Thanks. I've never really been a fan of glocks. Just feels like a 2x4 in my hand. I may look at the SIG. Just tryin to get some ideas now...

I guess it really depends on what kind of action you are most comfortable with. I'm mostly a 1911 guy, but I do have a S&W Bodyguard .380 and I love it for ease of carrying in the summer with shorts. I will agree that the trigger pull is long and kind of foul. I overlook it though due to size, laser, cost etc. If I was looking for a nicer .380 I would definitely look at the Sig, picked one up and it felt nice. If you don't really want a super small pocket pistol, look at one of the slim medium small 9mms. I prefer .45 but 9mm still outperforms .380 substantially on stopping power......Don't overlook wheel guns either, I carry a Scandium/Ti .357 J frame a lot too.

Taurus View Revolver
The new Taurus five-shot View is quite possibly the lightest .38 Special available. The View is barely nine ounces, and it carries with ease. Based on the popular Taurus Model 85, the View is a different approach to revolvers. It gets its name from the Lexan sideplate attached to the right side of the frame, which is the first noticeable difference when comparing the View with any other small-frame revolver.

Take a look at the S&W 442/642 or M&P 340. Paired with a Mika pocket holster and a speed strip it's a pretty convenient package. Google "the 642 thread" and you'll get hundreds of posts regarding its merits.

G26 is great.

Seecamps pistols are nice too.

:ditto:
.380s are prone to jamming. I had a ppk, it had been sent in for repair regarding a jamming issue and it still jammed when I had it.
I needed something small and comfortable to carry in warmer weather so I went with the S&W 637. Not the most comfortable to shoot but I carry it everywhere and it's reliable as a firearm gets.

M&P Sheild. Son just got one. I haven't shot it yet, but he likes it. Has a nice feel and should conceal well with a IWB.

Bersa Thunder caught my attention. Inexpensive, small enough for your pocket and good reviews.

Kahr PM or MK 9mm. I have been shooting and carrying them for years and not one time have they failed to function no matter what I feed them. They are small but comfortable in the hand and the triggers are Fantastic for a carry gun. I also carry a Ruger LCP at times with Buffalo bore hard cast ammo as the 380 needs all the help it can get.

If you want to go smaller, Kahr makes a nice 380 too.
