trigger job

Postby wjarrell » Sun May 18, 2014 1:38 pm

I'm shooting a Ruger Mark II M77 30-06 and I'm getting about a 2 inch group at 100 yards with factory Barnes 168 gr. I'm not a very good rifle shooter so I know the gun could probably group better. I'm not sure how much the trigger is currently but I would guess it's around 5. If a gunsmith got my trigger pull down to around 3 pounds do you guys think my groups would be better?

A good trigger is a must have on my rifles , my m77 is set at 2lbs with an aftermarket trigger. If your trigger doesn't bother you when shooting there's always a chance it might not like the ammo.

The trigger defiantly bothers me. It has creep and it's too heavy. I'll get the trigger done first and then go to the range and see what happens and then if I have to I'll try some different ammo.

The two Rugers I own, the 6mm M77 came from the factory set at about 7 pounds. Ha the gun smith here tune it down to 1.5 pounds. The R. American came at 2.75 which is just fine for a $300 rifle.
