I have been looking at the thompson center pistols and I flat out can't tell the difference between the encore and contender pistols. So all of you that know more than me, could you tell me the difference? thanks a bunch

The contender has been around a while and has had some features updating it to the G2? model.....Anyhoo the Encore was designed with a thicker, stronger receiver, to handle higher pressure, more powerful cartridges like the .308/.30-06/up tp .357H&H Class, and up to 12ga shotgun. The Contender will only handle big calibers at low pressure, or smaller calibers at higher pressure...like 45/70, .410, and .223, but not .270, , etc....for higher pressure cartridges and the larger shotgun bores, you have to go to the Encore. Both will do rimfire.
Here's a thought: Let the ducks work and decoy.

And if I'm not mistaken the barrels are not interchangeable.
