Here's a decent review.

You can get it packaged with a vortex scope, which I can testify are top of the line with a great warranty.

I bought this rifle in 308 Win right after Christmas last year and I can attest to their accuracy. Sub MOA at 100yds with 150gr core-lokts.

Not that anyone cares about .22's on this thread but here are my initial results from my brand new Savage Kryptec bolt action 22 with the factory Bushnell scope 3x9 set on 3 power. I fired some old CCI ammo, then some American Eagle, and then some Winchester Super X. All the ammo was at least 15-20 years old but not corroded. Most were factory sealed boxes. All shooting was from a seated bench rest on sand bags with a fifteen mile per hour cross wind at 50 yds.

First target with the silhouette grouping on the nose about 1.5 inches using American Eagle crap. Second grouping above left eye was CCI ammo about 1.75 inch group. Third grouping on the black 3 inch dot was Winchester Super X about .75 inch group. Winchester Super X had a substantially tighter group!

All shooting was done by me with zero cool down or cleanings in between groupings. Sorry, I didn't draw measurements on the targets.

Is it the gun or the ammo? It might be hard to argue that one brand of gun is more accurate than the next. I've had similar results with Browning 300 WSM at 100 yards with various types of ammo too.

There are so many factors that go into the accuracy of a rifle. Most importantly is the type of round you are shooting and how well manufactured the rifle is. Most out of the box hunting rifles are 1 Moa weapons. Meaning at 100 yards shooter should produce a 1 inch or better shot group and so on for various distances. Moa will change with grade of ammo being fired so take that into consideration at longer distance. I am partial to the rem 700 series there is a reason with the US Army still uses them today just on steriods. I shot one for 4 years in the army great weapon easy to shoot tho it was a 300 win mag. Great round shoots real flat with not a whole lot of bullet drop. Just my opinion. Best answer for you is to shoot as many different rifles as you can to see which one suits you best.

I just bought a weatherby vanguard 2 (wood) in 308 and could not be happier. I paired it with a Nikon monarch 3 2.5x10 scope. Weatherby guarantees sub MOA out of the box using weatherby factory ammunition. I shot it last weekend and after sighting it in it would shoot sub MOA all day. I am extremely happy with the gun. I considered a X-bolt, AB3, model 70 and a few other in between but settled on the weatherby. The gun cost a little over $600 and i got the scope for $300. With my state not being a rifle hunting state I really had not reason to buy one so i wanted to save some money without sacrificing quality.

I've had a vanguard "1" for about 10 years now and it shot sub-moa right out of the box. I love that rifle, especially the stock.

Out of the five deer rifles in my safe the Vanguard 1 in 7mm Rem mag is still my go to gun.
