Its a crap hits the fan situation (SHTF) and you have time to grab one gun and 100 rds of ammo; THATS IT! What gun do you choose and why.

My choice would be my Sig Sauer P228 in 9mm. Got lots of mags and I know I would be in no position to wage a one man war. This would be a purely defensive weapon. On the up side finding ammo for this gun would not be to hard as it is the NATO choice and very popular in the Great USA. Light weight and easy to conceal, but at the same time providing adequate firepower if needed.

How about you guys? What would your ONE choice be?

Springfield 1911. Not all that hard to conceal and packs a punch. I hate 9mm with a passion. I have a ton of buddies in Iraq and many people out of the service. When I hear of people emptying a whole mag into someone and they're still coming there's a problem.

depending on the situation, If it was total survival, I would take my AR-15 carbine and 3 -30 round mags or my M2 Tactical, I can hunt, defend myself from a distance and replenish my ammo supply pretty easily. If just for defending myself/family in CQC and needed concealment It would be my XD tactical 45acp with 8-12 round mags in the carriers and one in the gun.

I think a 12 GA shotgun is one of the most versatile guns out there. Between slugs, 50-100yds, 00 buckshot, and then bird shot you have the ultimate survival tool. Now if you're in a situation where you need concealment, possibly not the best gun, but if you need one gun for survival, a 12 gauge is hard to beat.

I don't want to get shot with a 9mm at any range, with any ammo. Its still near a .38 caliber diameter bullet doing a couple hundred feet per second faster than .45 ball. Toss in some Speer gold dots and you can amputate limbs in 1/1000 of a second.

You could even make an arguement for a ruger 10/22 for the ability to stockpile the ammo cheaply. Gotta have a sweet semi .22 in the cabinet.

definetly the Ruger Mini 14 with the 30 round mags and a good scope on it. Unstopable.

I don't know about your M-14 but mine will hold constant 1" groups at 100 yards.

My M-14 or a Mini?

Wouldn't have another Mini if you gave it to me.
