which one do you like? My buddies is going to get one or the other and I made my suggestion. Just wondering what others think.

I am personally a big fan of the Springfield XD series. I really like the grip safety on the xd's and they fit well in my hands.

That being said, I would probably pick up both of them and whichever one felt the best in my hands would be the one I got.

The XD for me hands down. It feels better to me and I think it's better made. I haven't heard a whole lot about the M&P yet, but I know of people that have put the XD through hell. The military is even planning on switching to them in .45 if I'm not mistaken. The M&P has changeable back straps, but if you get the XD-M it does to, and a few other features that make it an awesome pistol.

Ya thanks guys I told him what you said and he got the M&P. :lol3: He liked the M&P alot because he has tiny little midget hands and he thought it fit better.

I faced this same decision 3 weeks ago. I went to the gun shop determined to buy the M&P 40, but walked out with the XD40.

the M&P has a BIG following on the IDPA courses and are VERY reliable but I still bought the XD, in 45acp of course with the external thumb safety. I am not a fan of the 40 but they are a nice round and a big improvement over the 9mm. If I was to buy a 9mm for carry it would probably be the M&P over the XD as it is smaller. they all have good points and will put the rounds down range. P2000 HK is still hard to beat.
