thoughts on video cameras?

Postby lukea.becker » Sat Jul 17, 2010 7:49 am

Hey everyone, I just had a question about buying a video camera. My friends and I are thinking of going in on a camera to film our hunts this year. None of us have a ton of money which is why we wanted to go in on it together. Im wondering if you guys had any ideas on a decent camera for this purpose. I have been looking at the Canon HD ones a lot and I definitely want one with flash memory. Is an HD camera essential for getting good quality hunt footage? We were looking to spend anything from 600-1000 bucks on it. I have an old camera that we were messing with last season but when it got cold the camera kept shutting off, time for an upgrade. ANy advice would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Luke

Honestly, I just use my iphone4. The video is great and you can edit it on the phone.

But check out some of the panasonics. I got one a few years back fro a great price and it was tiny. Super portable.

Or there is those flip video cameras. My buddy uses one for paintball videos and it works really well too.

I had the Canon GL-2 for a year or two. It was a really good option. My buddies and I were going to film our hunts and start a website and it never panned out, so I ended up selling it. It was a great camera. Forgot how much it was...somewhere in the $1200-$1600 range. If you Google the product name and go to Google Products, you can sort by price. Some of the sites on there aren't really reputible though (like the REALLY low prices). I bought mine from Abe's Of Maine, who I was really pleased with. Got it for a great price, brand new. Here's a link to that camera:
