Actually REM the shutter speed was up to 1000 to 1200. I like the sun to make the color pop in them. Just don't get the full color out of the birds when the skies are gray. This paticular place I take these pics at is a waterfowl meca! A privately owned marsh that the guy does not allow hunting on (THANK God!) but lets me go in to shoot the camera. Lots of natural cover. I take my camera gear and a chair in their and click away to my hearts content.
