NAS Oceana/Dam Neck Waterfowling

Postby The Rogue » Mon Aug 17, 2009 6:28 pm

Just got back from deployment a couple months ago...called the base Natural Resource Office the other day to find out about this year's required hunting indoc class and to ask if there were any changes to the duck hunting rules. Well, there is no real point in going to the class anymore, unless you want to smoke some dog sized deer... No more waterfowling on Dam Neck because they have a bunch of new construction around the lakes there...sucks. Just wanted to pass that on to everyone in the VA military community.

Anyone know if Yorktown allows waterfowling? I'm way behind timeline in finding places to hunt for this year.

Thanks,

Chris

I just left there or you could have done some hunting with me. Yorktown does not have waterfowl hunting. Every once in awhile they'll do a special hunt to control the resident population but that is about it. My other hunting buddy is currently deployed or I'd get you hooked up with him. Look up Lewdog on here. He helps out the military guys alot. Good luck.

That is a shame. I hunted ducks at Dam Neck 20 years ago while on a shore tour at Guided Missiles School.
