Fishing weekend for GWOT vets.

Postby The Colonel » Thu Apr 07, 2011 4:46 pm

The weekend of June 4th and 5th- Fishing for Freedom-Quincy (Illinois) is hosting any and all GWOT vets for some downtime Bass fishing. Visit the website http://www.fishingforfreedomquincy.org/ to sign up. We are picking up the entire tab for the warriors- license, hotel, meals, bar tab, provideing the boat/partner fisherman etc. If you are currently at Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Riley, Fort Leavenworth or Scott AFB. transport has already been arranged for you from those posts. Some of the prizes for the vets include a special laser engraved M-4 and a outfitted week long Pike Couty, IL. deer hunting trip. We already have soldiers from North Carolina, California, Montana, the Dakotas, and the midwest signed up ( we are sort of short on some good southern boys to liven things up). Pass the word- check it out and join us on the Mississippi River. If you are not a GWOT vet and want to join us- all are welcome- check out the webpage for the details on how others can get involved/help. Email me direct if you want with questions camowarrior@ymail.com

This years event is in the books and we hit it over the fence. Check out the website http://www.fishingforfreedomquincy.org/ for the pics and be sure to watch the video about half way down the web page. Next stop Truman Lake this fall. Warriors are already signing up for next years event and we are going to add a second division. 2012 will have both a Bass tourney as well as a Catfish tourney since the soldiers got such a kick out of catching the big blue cats in the river this year.

This year we had a female MP from California, one Marine out of Montana and three Marines from NC that fought it out for longest roadtrip to the Midwest. 75 warriors fished this year- we will be takeing 150 next year with the two divisions.
